Farewell to Ian Baldwin!
It is with great sadness we inform you that Ian Baldwin, our talented director, a fantastic guy and a beloved friend, passed away on Sunday, January 21st. Ian joined the Caamora Theatre Company in 2013. Within the last 5 years he directed the theatre versions of all 3 of Clive Nolan's musicals: "Alchemy" (2014, 2015, 2017), "She" (2015, 2016) and "King's Ransom" (2017). The shows were performed in Cheltenham and in the off-West End in London and were all successful, enjoyable, and met with enthusiasm of critics and audiences alike. Ian will also be remembered for an array of wonderful performances in all the shows, especially the comedy parts - the roles of Job in "SHE" and Captain Fergus Maunder in "King's Ransom". We will all remember his creative genius, persistence, patience, reliability, great sense of humour, wit, and warmth. Thank you for everything, Ian. You will not be forgotten!
Clive Nolan: "Ian passed away this morning - this is heartbreaking - a great guy and the best ‘partner in crime’ I could have wished for... Rest in peace old son - your story is not over yet!"
Thank you, Cheltenham 2016!
Clive Nolan: "Three more 'She' shows are completed, and I want to send my congratulations to everyone involved. It was a fantastic production which really brought the story to life. As I watched each show, I quite literally forgot I had written it, and got sucked into the adventure that unfolded before me.
This show has got better each time we have tackled it... from our original appearance on that Polish DVD all the way through to where we are now, I have seen this musical mature and develop into what I experienced last night, and thanks to all the people involved along the journey we now have a great show!
‘SHE’ Official Bootleg DVD Pre-sale
The DVD is the second official Caamora Theatre Company bootleg. This production of Clive Nolan’s first musical, ‘SHE’, was performed at the Cheltenham Playhouse on September 4th 2015 as part of the event celebrating 10 Years of Clive Nolan Musicals.
This is a theatrical version of the musical directed by Ian Baldwin and featuring a new song and a brand new cast, including Victoria Bolley (Ayesha), Robbie Gardner (Leo), Gemma Louise Edwards (Ustane), Chris Lewis (Holly), Ross Andrews (Billali), Verity Smith (Rehani), Ian Baldwin (Job) and the Caamora Chorus.
Warning: due to technical limitations, the only sound available was from the cameras. The DVD will be dispatched in September. Profits will go into the production of Clive's next musical, 'King's Ransom'.
Clive Nolan: "Most probably this is the last chance to experience "SHE" live, as we are about to embark on an entirely new journey together with Professor King and his companions..."
'She' Returns to Cheltenham this September!
This autumn the Caamora Theatre Company will return to Cheltenham with Clive Nolan's first musical 'She'. This will be the third production of 'She' performed at the Cheltenham Playhouse and with only a few weeks left, the rehearsals are in full swing now. The shows will take place during the weekend (September 2nd and 3rd): Friday evening, Saturday evening and a Saturday matinee. Tickets are available at the theatre or online HERE. Special weekend deals allow you to buy tickets for two shows and get the third one free.
Clive Nolan: "There are the Cheltenham Playhouse performances of 'She' coming up in only a few weeks. How quickly they have arrived! Rehearsals are now underway, and I am looking forward to our latest venture with this particular musical. I must say this may well be the last time we perform 'She' for a while, so try not to miss it." ;)
